Ballgowns go best with champagne but they also go very well with each other. The current exhibition in the fashion galleries at the V&A brings together a collection of gowns from the 1950's to the present day.
It's all there: ornate embroidery, traditional lines, feather corsets, silver-stiffened leather and lace-print latex. These dresses range from the prim to the sculptural and together they tell a beautiful story of British glamour and elegance.
