MBDS is seeking a talented Mid-Weight Interior Designer to join our Design Studio Team and support high-end hospitality and residential projects. You’ll collaborate with Senior Designers, contribute to concept development, manage day-to-day design tasks, and take ownership of your workload across all project stages.
This role is ideal for a designer with strong creative instincts, excellent communication skills, and solid experience delivering refined, detail-oriented interiors.
Key Responsibilities
Develop concept designs based on client briefs and Senior Designer direction
Conduct design and material research; support FF&E selection
Produce drawings and presentations across all phases (CD–CA) to MBDS standards
Participate in client, consultant, and contractor meetings and site visits
Maintain strong supplier knowledge and contribute to studio library upkeep
Mentor junior designers and support overall team productivity
Represent MBDS professionally within all project interactions
Experience & Knowledge
3–6 years’ experience in hospitality or residential design
Understanding of UK building regulations and construction technology
Strong grasp of materials, joinery, detailing, and industry trends
Some on-site experience and awareness of project feasibility/commerciality
Technical Skills
AutoCAD
Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)

MBDS are looking for a Freelance Mid-weight Designer to support our in-house team on upcoming projects. You will work closely with our designers and creative leads to bring ideas to life across a range of digital and print deliverables.
This is a remote freelance role, but we ask that you’re able to join us in our London Studio approximately once a month for creative sessions or team catch-ups. This could also be a studio-based role.
Key Responsibilities
Support design research and concept development across project teams
Apply MBDS stylistic and technical design standards
Work within project timelines, ensuring all deliverables are met
Contribute to concept presentations through image sourcing, 3D sketching/modelling, Photoshop editing, and preparing boards/booklets
Produce drawings to MBDS standards across all project stages, from concept to completion
Ensure all work meets functional, legal, and planning requirements
Deliver accurate, high-quality design outputs aligned with project goals
Compile and issue meeting minutes promptly
What We’re Looking For
3–6 years’ experience (agency or in-house)
Strong portfolio showcasing residential and hospitality work
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, and Enscape
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate or work independently
Highly organised, adaptable, and confident managing multiple briefs
Creative problem solver with strong attention to detail
Solid understanding of materials, joinery, detailing, and construction
Knowledge of furniture, lighting, ironmongery, and sanitaryware suppliers
UK-based with the Right to Work in the UK
Willing to attend monthly in-studio creative sessions

MBDS has a vacancy for an ambitious and talented Midweight Designer with 3-6 years’ experience to work on high end Interior Design projects in the Restaurant and Hospitality sectors.
An extremely high-level of AutoCAD is a must and a proficiency in Photoshop and SketchUp is essential. Current USA building regulation knowledge as well as a comprehensive understanding of construction technology and a high level of FF&E, joinery and detailing is imperative. The individual should be a strong team player with good communication skills and the ability to coordinate, control and make decisions. A general all-rounder with both ID & FF&E skills.
The candidate should also:
• Be meticulous, highly organized and efficient.
• Be a team player able to support and contribute to a positive working environment.
• Be capable of clear communication; fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Be proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, and InDesign as well as having knowledge of Sketch Up.
• Demonstrate confidence in sketching and presenting new ideas.
• Show experience of delivering neat, clear and accurate design information and schedules.
• Be able to confidently represent the Company externally and contribute to MBDS’s professional reputation and high level of attention to detail.
